Sep 06, 2007

Saturday, Sept. 8, marks an historic event for the Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons "the first football game to be played on Duvall-Rosier Field's new FieldTurfTM playing surface.

To commemorate the home opener, a Ribbon Cutting Celebration has been planned. Before the 3:30 p.m. start of the game, free T-shirts sponsored by Freckles Graphics and Greenhorne & O'Mara Consulting Engineers, and posters will be handed out to the crowd. The ceremony will help welcome the team to the field. Legendary head coach Deacon Duvall will give the ceremonial coin toss.

Following the game, all fans will be invited down to the field. Players and coaches will participate in an autograph session sponsored by Adams Office Supply.

The $1.6 million renovation to the field began in the spring of 2007. The field is lined to accommodate Intramurals and several sports, including football, softball, soccer and women's lacrosse.
