Family Weekend Planned for Sept. 28-29
Fairmont State University will host Family Weekend on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28
and 29, featuring a chicken wing cook-off, hot air balloon rides and activities for
kids.
Sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs, Student Government and GEAR UP, the weekend
is designed to help the families of students feel welcome on campus and learn more
about Fairmont State.
"The faculty and staff are here to help students achieve their goals and, in some
cases, help them determine what their goals should be," said Michael Belmear, Vice
President for Student Affairs. "We want the families of our students to feel at home
on our campus, and we encourage them to visit often."
A cookout and inflatable games are planned for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, on the
Falcon Center lawn. Events for Saturday, Sept. 29, begin at noon and include self-guided
campus tours, a chicken wing cook-off from 4 to 5 p.m., face painting from 4-6 p.m.,
Yesteryear Old Time Family Portraits from 4 to 9 p.m. and hot air balloon rides from
5 to 7 p.m. at the parking area by the practice field. Families can also see the Fighting
Falcons take on Glenville State College at 6 p.m. at Duvall-Rosier Field.
The cost for attendance is $20 per person. FSU students and children younger than
12 will be admitted for free. Special accommodations will be made for those with disabilities
who notify the Office of Student Affairs in advance by calling (304) 367-4643. For
