Comedian Alexandra McHale to Perform

As part of activities for Homecoming 2007 "Hit the Jackpot at FSU," comedian Alexandra McHale will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Fairmont State University's Colebank Hall gym. This event is presented by Student Government.

McHale made her network television debut on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." She has appeared on CBS's "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and the Metro Channel's "New Joke City with Robert Klein." After her appearance at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, The Hollywood Reporter called her one to watch "who scored points with quick barbs."

She grew up in Connecticut and moved to New York City, where she became a lifetime member of the Actors' Studio and studied with acting greats such as Paul Newman, Sally Field and Ellen Burstyn. She is a frequent commentator on VH1's "I Love the 80s," "Supersecret TV Formulas" and "The 100 Most Cheesetastic Video Countdown." McHale has headlined at more than 300 colleges and was voted 2002 and 2003 Female Entertainer of the Year by the readers of Campus Activities Magazine. She was nominated for 2005 Female Entertainer of the Year and for Performer of the Year by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities.
