Family Holds Scholarship Fundraiser

The family of William"Will" Charleton Bridges will hold a community event to raise funds for the Will Bridges Memorial Endowed Scholarship supporting student scholarships at Fairmont State University. The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at Wave Tek Park, Pavilion #1. Activities begin 2 p.m. and run until 5 p.m. A raffle and talent show are planned.

The Will Bridges Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created by the Bridges family through the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc., Strengthening Institutions: Phase II program. Strengthening Institutions: Phase II provides a 25 percent match of gifts of $25,000 or more, up to $100,000.

When the fund becomes fully endowed, The Will Bridges Memorial Endowed Scholarship will provide two annual scholarships, one to a student majoring in language and literature and one to a student with a major in education. Recipients must maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5, be a West Virginia resident and demonstrate financial need. Minority students are encouraged to apply.
