Jun 06, 2007

A Pierpont Community & Technical College of Fairmont State University faculty member has been honored by the aviation industry.

Thomas A. Stose, Associate Professor of Aviation Technology, has been awarded the Dale Hurst Memorial Scholarship for his outstanding performance teaching aviation maintenance technicians and for his educational contributions to the aviation industry.

Sponsored by AVOTEK for instructors of Aviation Technician Education Council Schools, the certificate was awarded to Stose in April during the annual conference of the Aviation Technician Education Council in Orlando, Fla.

Stose was also awarded the Northrop Rice Foundation Assistance Scholarship, which provides funds to cover travel expenses for instructors who attend training courses that enhance their abilities to teach aviation technician students.

Stose, a Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center faculty member, has been a member of the Pierpont C&TC faculty since 1996. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Sciences from Ohio State University and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Sciences from Colorado State University.
