Cunningham Honored by State Association
The West Virginia Health Information Management Association (WVHIMA) recently honored
a Pierpont Community & Technical College of Fairmont State University faculty member
with its Distinguished Member award.
Amy Cunningham, RHIA, CTR, CPC, Clinical Coordinator of the Pierpont C&TC Health Information
Technology program, was recognized for making an outstanding contribution to the profession
through volunteer services to WVHIMA, AHIMA and other health information management
affiliate organizations; outstanding achievement in professional practice; leadership
in education; and contributions in research or published materials.
Cunningham recently graduated with a Masters in Education. She was also promoted
to the rank of Assistant Professor at Fairmont State. She has been appointed to the
inaugural class of Leadership Fairmont State. She has been very active with WVHIMA
serving as second and third year Director, Public Relations Chair, Technology Chair,
Annual Convention Education Co-Chair and Bylaws Chair. She has also served as President,
President Elect and Treasurer of the WV Cancer Registry Association. She serves the
WVHIMA board as an academic liaison. Cunningham resides in Bridgeport with her husband,
Kevin and their two sons, Michael and Ben.
