Thurmer Exhibit Opens April 25
Robert Thurmer, has been named Fairmont State University Artist-in-Residence for the
spring 2007 semester. An exhibition of work that he completed at Fairmont State will
be on display from April 25 to May 4 in the James David Brooks Memorial Gallery of
Wallman Hall.
The opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the gallery.
The artist will speak about his work. The event is free and open to the public.
Through funding provided by the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc., the Artist-in-Residence
Program of the FSU School of Fine Arts makes possible performances and works of art
created or presented by professional artists and the mentoring of students. In recent
years, the program has featured jazz legend Johnnie Johnson; British actor Roger Jerome;
internationally acclaimed opera singers Maryanne Telese and Stephen Lusmann; freelance
artist Patricia Musick; painter Elizabeth McClain; and critically acclaimed writer
Jaime Gordon; poet Maggie Anderson; and theatre professor Jeffrey Ingman.
