Concert to Benefit Union Mission

Mar 24, 2007

A benefit concert sponsored by Leadership Marion XXV on April 27 will benefit the Union Mission of Fairmont.

Four local bands will donate their time for the concert called Rock the Mission, which will be held at Westchester Village in Fairmont from 7 p.m. to midnight April 27. Participating bands are Thred, Satchel Brown, The Charles Raese Band and 85 Flood. Tickets will be sold at the door for $7.

Leadership Marion is a program for people who are motivated by commitment, involvement, understanding and enthusiasm in an effort to foster leadership in the community. The program is supported by Fairmont State University and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. Leadership Marion class members make a year-long commitment to learn about the county, its government, industries and public resources.

Each year, the group organizes a fund-raiser for the benefit of a charitable Marion County cause. Leadership Marion XXV became involved with the Union Mission last year, donating nearly $2,000 worth of bedding and money after the Union Mission experienced a damaging fire.

For more information on the concert, call Dr. G.H. "Budd" Sapp, Director of Leadership Marion, at (304) 367-4663.
