America/FSU Counts Offers Math Tutoring
In conjunction with Fairmont State GEAR UP, the America/Fairmont State Counts program,
supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum, is planning for
its spring session to be held at Fairmont State University. The free math tutoring
program is offered to students fifth- through eighth-graders who are experiencing
math difficulties.
The one hour / once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Mondays
at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. OR Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. The program starts the week
of Feb. 19 and runs through the week of April 16.
The program is structured to emphasize math homework difficulties and / or specific
math difficulties.
Fairmont State University tutors, proficient in math, aid each child in developing
his or her math skills. Kabulski, a Marion County math teacher and the on-site supervisor,
will be present to assist each tutor and student.
"The students benefit greatly from the small group instruction and support they receive
from their tutors," Kabulski said.
