CMP Student Attends Prestigious Camp
Hillary Heaster, eighth-grade private cello student with the Community Music Program
at Fairmont State University has completed summer studies at the 2006 Interlochen
Arts Camp, the world's premier summer arts program for aspiring artists in grades
three through 12.
The daughter of Pam and Steve Heaster of Salem, W.Va., she studied private cello
and other music courses at the camp. The world's most talented and motivated students
train intensively with world class instructors and produce more than 400 presentations
each summer in dance, theatre, creative writing, visual arts and music. The Interlochen
Camp and Festival are part of Interlochen Center for the Arts, a year-round school
with an independent pre-K though eighth-grade day school program and a winter high
school program.
At FSU's Community Music Program, Heaster is a student of Artist Teacher of Cello
Susan Bestul. Heaster has appeared in CMP recitals for the past several years and
has participated regularly as cello soloist in performances with the Bridgeport United
Methodist Church. She attends Notre Dame High School.
