Food and Wine Pairing Class Offered

Oct 19, 2006

A new class offered by the Pierpont Community & Technical College of Fairmont State University Community Education program will give participants the opportunity to learn from local experts the correct way to pair food with wine.

Chef Brian Floyd and wine connoisseur Mike Shaw, owner of Montis Wine Room in Fairmont, will showcase four courses of a meal from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24. The class will take place at Montis Wine Room, 304 Marion Square.

"The evening is sure to be enjoyable for anyone from the seasoned wine enthusiast to the beginner gourmet," said Ron Weist, Director of Community Education for Pierpont C&TC.

Floyd and Shaw will give food and wine tasting and pairing tips to help foster skill and interest. Each course will be matched with a wine or two. The demonstration will be interactive, and participants will leave with full stomachs, as well as more knowledge about food and wine. Participants must be 21 years old or older to attend. The cost per person is $39.
