Emeritus Club Inducts Class of 1956
A Fairmont State tradition is uniting 1956 graduates with a whole new generation of
students and sharing a literal "taste" of life on campus.
Students enrolled in the Pierpont Community & Technical College of FSU Culinary Arts
program, under the direction of Chef Brian Floyd, will prepare the meal for the Emeritus
Club luncheon at noon Friday, Oct. 13.
Members of the Fairmont State class of 1956 are scheduled to be honored with induction
into the Emeritus Club during the ceremony, which will be held in the Falcon Center
Third Floor Conference Rooms on the main campus.
The annual Emeritus Club event brings members of the 50 year graduating class together
with friends from other previous class years. The event is designed to celebrate the
life and legacy of Fairmont State's golden anniversary graduates.
The Culinary Arts students will provide an autumn meal featuring the following gourmet
items: a salad of seasonal greens and grilled pears dressed in grape seed oil, balsamic
vinaigrette; an entre of Italian style braised beef served with crispy polenta and
autumn vegetables and dessert of pumpkin tartlet.
Advance tickets for friends and family of current Emeritus members or the inductee
class are $10 per person. Tickets at the door are $15 per person. Members of the Class
of 1956 are invited to attend the event free of charge as guests of Fairmont State.
In addition to the induction ceremony and luncheon, two plaque rededications honoring
Emeritus members will take place. A Dining Hall Plaque Rededication Ceremony honoring
Frank Pulice, Jr., former director of food services at Fairmont State will take place
at 2 p.m. in the Falcon Center, Third Floor, Dining Hall. The Nickel Plaque Rededication
Ceremonies honoring Archie Cain and Don Nichols, founders of the original Fairmont
State Nickel will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Falcon Center, Second Floor, Main
Street. Admission to both ceremonies is free and open to the public.
