Math Tutoring Offered for 5th-8th Graders
In conjunction with Fairmont State GEAR UP, the America/Fairmont State Counts program
is planning for its fall session to be held at the main Fairmont State campus. The
free math tutoring program is offered to fifth- through eighth-graders who are experiencing
math difficulties.
The program is supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum.
The one hour/once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Wednesdays
at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. or Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. The program starts the
week of Sept. 25 and runs through the week of Nov. 13.
Fairmont State tutors, who are proficient in math, aid each child in developing his/her
math skills. Kabulski, a Marion County math teacher, is the on-site supervisor for
the program and will be present to assist each tutor and student.
"The students who participate benefit greatly from the small group instruction and
support they receive from their tutors," Kabulski said.
