Auditions Set for 'Oliver!'

Fairmont State University's Town & Gown theatre group will present the family musical "Oliver!" on Nov. 16-19 and Nov. 30-Dec. 2. Auditions for the show will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room 236 of Wallman Hall.

Dr. Francene Kirk will direct the book, and Dr. Valerie Huffman will direct the music. For information about the show, see the Tams-Witmark web site at http://www.tamswitmark.com/musicals/oliver.html. The show requires at least 12 men, nine women and 15 adolescents and children.

Those who wish to audition are asked to call in advance to request an audition time slot, which will run in half hour increments. Each person will have a three-minute audition time. Those auditioning should bring an "up tempo song" with sheet music for the audition. No recordings are allowed. Those auditioning should also bring a resume. Call back auditions will be held Thursday, Sept. 7. Children who plan to audition should be at least 8 years old and should be able to read.

Those leaving a message are asked to provide the following information: name, phone number, audition date and preferred audition time on the half-hour. If the requested time slot is filled, the auditioner will be called. Those auditioning should arrive a few minutes before their time slot to fill out an audition form.

Rehearsals will begin Monday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m. The venue for the show is to be determined. There will be rehearsals four to five days per week. Most rehearsals run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The technical rehearsals will be Nov. 11 and 12.
