Children Can Sign Up for 'Born to Entertain'
Fairmont State University's Children's Chorus "Born to Entertain" is now taking registrations
for this summer. The chorus showcase theme for this year, "Americana," will have a
performance July 1 at 7 p.m. in Wallman Hall on the FSU campus.
The chorus is designed for beginner to advanced young singers ages 5-12 who are seeking
more opportunities to explore stage singing and movement, whether in a group, as a
soloist, or as part of a small ensemble such as a trio, duet, etc.
Housed in Wallman Hall, home of the School of Fine Arts Department of Music, the
group is part of the "Music for Children Program" and is sponsored by the Community
Music Program for Children. The schedule includes singing techniques, vocal production,
stage presence, stage movement, stage etiquette, self-confidence and motivation, talent
talk, repertoire, developing the young singer, opportunities for singing, and dramatic
presentations with singing.
Students enrolling will have the opportunity to appear in a showcase as part of a
group production. They may also elect to be a soloist and develop that part of their
ability as well. "Born to Entertain" will meet from 5-7 p.m. the week of June 25 through
July 1, with the possibility of beginning June 24 to accommodate summer vacation schedules.
The director and founder of "Born to Entertain" is Anne Schooley, who will be teaching
the "Americana" group. Registrations will be accepted until June 20 at (304) 366-3758.
