Health Care Professionals Certification Exams Given

Apr 03, 2006

Fairmont State Community & Technical College will soon begin to deliver web-based Certified Medical Manager exams for the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM) at the Center for Workforce Education in downtown Fairmont. The exams will be delivered through the nationwide network of ACT Centers beginning this month.

PAHCOM's Certified Medical Manager exam is a comprehensive three-hour examination that covers 18 areas crucial to medical management, including human resources, health care law and financial planning.
Web-based testing allows certification-seekers to take proctored exams across the country at 225 ACT Center locations. This provides flexible test scheduling and instant scoring for professionals in this industry.

"Hundreds of our members have been unable to travel to the three or four testing sites we provide during the year," said Richard Blanchette, Executive Director of PAHCOM. "Now they can take the Certified Medical Manager exam in or near their hometown whenever it's convenient."

PAHCOM was founded in 1988 to provide a support system to office managers employed by clinics, hospitals, medical associations, medical societies, vendors and other entities.

"ACT Centers are designed to help national accreditation organizations and distance learning institutions reach as many members as possible with secure, convenient testing environments," said Tom Saterfiel, Vice President of ACT. "Certified medical managers are crucial to the operation of medical offices, and making certification exams more accessible will help the whole industry serve its clients."

"This new exam adds yet another offering to our existing high-stakes testing service," said Keith Nichols, Fairmont State's Center for Workforce Education Manager. "Other professional certification testing that we provide at our ACT Center include the ASE (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence) tests, ASWB (Association of Social Work Boards) tests, CDR (Commission on Dietetic Registration) tests, NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) tests and NITC (National Inspection, Testing and Certification Corporation) tests. This is just another example of how Fairmont State provides educational services to professionals in our community."
