Rodriguez, Elliott to Play in Benefit Basketball Game

Feb 17, 2006

The members of Leadership Marion XXIV and Action Marion have challenged West Virginia University Head Football Coach Rich Rodriguez, Fairmont State University Head Football Coach Rusty Elliot and their coaching staffs to a benefit basketball game.

The event will be held at Fairmont State's Joe Retton Arena at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 1. Tickets are $5. Proceeds benefit the Marion County Soup Opera and 612 MAC.

Raffle items will include a football signed by Rodriguez, Fairmont State memorabilia signed by Elliot and a membership to Fairmont State's recreation and fitness facility, the Falcon Center.

Leadership Marion and Action Marion are organizations comprised of people who are motivated by commitment, involvement, understanding and enthusiasm to foster leadership in the community. The program is supported by Fairmont State and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, Leadership Marion participants conduct at least one major project to benefit the Marion County community. This year, members of Leadership Marion XXIV have chosen to host a benefit basketball game, participate in the Marion County Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, create a disc golf tee at Morris Park through the Seth Burton Foundation and other community involvement activities.

For more information on becoming a member of Leadership Marion or the upcoming benefit basketball game, call Dr. G.H. "Budd" Sapp at (304) 367-4663.
