National Disabilities Awareness Week Celebrated
The Fairmont State Office of Disabilities Services and Interpreting Services is observing
National Disabilities Awareness Week with an information booth set up all week in
the Falcon Center and activities and prize giveaways each day during lunch time.
Presenters this week will include a Fairmont State student and the West Virginia
University Mountaineer on Wednesday, Feb. 8, which is Visual Impairment Day. This
presentation will be from 1-2 p.m. in the Education Building, Room 303.
"We would like to encourage all faculty and staff to attend," said Sign Language
Interpreter Coordinator Stephanie Jaggie.
"Our goal is to increase awareness within our Fairmont State community and the general
public of the individual differences within us. Our theme for the week is: 'Though
we may be different, we all smile the same.'"
