Auditions for 'Seussical, the Musical' Announced
"Seussical, the Musical" will be performed at Fairmont State Dec. 1-4 and 8-10 as
part of the Masquers season. Dr. Francene Kirk, director, has announced audition dates
for the production.
The show includes various plot lines based on the work of Dr. Seuss. The main plot
line comes from "Horton Hears a Who." For more information about the show and to hear
clips of the music, visit Music Theatre International's homepage at http://www.mtishows.com/show_songs.asp?ID=000229. Dr. Valerie Huffman will be the music director.
Open audition dates are 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, and Wednesday, Sept. 28, in Wallman
Hall. Signs on the back door of Wallman Hall will give directions to the audition
room.
The director is looking for 35 to 50 people for the show. At least 10 will be children
younger than 12, and one of the children's parts is a leading role. The show calls
for very strong singers. Those auditioning for "Seussical" should prepare an up-tempo
song and bring the sheet music to the audition. An accompanist will be provided. (Those
auditioning should not bring CDs of their music.)
After Sept. 15, those interested in auditioning may call Kirk's office or e-mail
to schedule an audition time at (304) 367-4170. Those calling should leave their name,
phone number and preferred audition date and time (on the hour or half-hour). Unless
another arrangement is made, those auditioning should come to Wallman Hall at their
requested audition time.
