Business and Industry Campaign Gains Momentum
New investment opportunities at Fairmont State have generated high interest and support
from area businesses and corporations.
“ ‘Innovation and Influence - Business and Industry for Fairmont State’ is an opportunity
for organizations to increase their profile in the community by providing a leadership
gift to Fairmont State,” said Delbert “Butch” Phillips, Senior Vice President for
Commercial Loans at Monongahela Valley Bank and “Innovation and Influence” Campaign
Committee Chair.
“The campaign brings area corporations and businesses into a dialogue with higher
education on issues directly impacting economic development in our area. It’s about
finding solutions that directly impact the bottom line for business today.”
The following companies have made a financial commitment to the campaign: Cecchinelli
Rental, Coca Cola Bottling Company, First Exchange Bank, McCabe Land Company, Monongahela
Bank, Morgantown Pulmonary Associate, Pepsi Bottling Company, Thrasher Engineering,
Three Sons Development Company, Rose Padden and Petty and WesBanco Bank, Inc.
Businesses have the opportunity to invest their gift into workforce development initiatives,
the Fairmont State Fund for Excellence (scholarships) and the Fairmont State Futures
Fund (the institution’s areas of greatest need). Underwriting and naming opportunities
also exist. The Fairmont State Foundation will tailor each gift to suit the investment
and philanthropic goals of each donor.
“WesBanco is dedicated to the long-term health and growth of this region,” said Aaron
Hawkins, Senior Vice President for Trust and Investment Services at WesBanco.
“Our gift represents our belief in the mission of Fairmont State University President,
Daniel Bradley, and Fairmont State Community & Technical College President, Blair
Montgomery, to train the workers and leaders of the future.”
