Chamber Orchestra Festival Taking Applications
The fourth annual Fairmont Chamber Orchestra Festival, sponsored by Fairmont State,
is now accepting applications for the festival's youth orchestras, which will meet
from Monday, June 13, through Thursday, June 16.
The youth orchestras accept students from beginning strings through advanced strings
and wind players and will perform two concerts, one in Fairmont and one at Pricketts
Fort.
John Ashton, artistic director of the festival, has announced that M. Todd Wilson,
conductor of the West Virginia Youth Orchestra Strings from 1996 to 2002 and currently
conductor of the Capitol High School Orchestra, and Jenee Wright, professional violinist
and teacher, will conduct the youth orchestras.
Student members will also be offered a class surveying music theory, as well as an
opportunity to perform with the professional orchestra in residence.
