Bonnett Named Associate Athletic Director
Fairmont State has named Ray Bonnett as Associate Athletic Director.
In addition to his expanded leadership role, Bonnett will continue to be Fairmont
State's Director of Athletic NCAA and WVIAC Compliance, manage the operation of home
athletic events and serve as head baseball coach for the Falcons.
"Not only is Ray an organized and respected leader, but he is also a graduate and
former Fairmont State student-athlete," said Scott Gines, Fairmont State Athletic
Director. "Ray has effectively served the department and Lettermen's Association in
many capacities through the years, and he is invaluable to the day-to-day operations
of the department."
A native of Webster County, W.Va., Bonnett has served as Fairmont State's Director
of Athletic Compliance since 1992. He has also served as Head Baseball Coach since
1998 and was Head Women's Golf Coach from 1994 to 1998. He teaches in the FSU Department
of Health and Human Performance and serves as an academic advisor to student athletes.
He also serves as Secretary of the Fairmont State Lettermen's Association.
Bonnett holds a Master of Science degree in Physical Education-Teacher Education
from West Virginia University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Fairmont
State and an A.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Fairmont State. During his years
as a student at FS, he participated in football and baseball and was a member of the
Falcons' 1979 WVC football championship squad. He was captain of the baseball team
from 1979-1980. Bonnett is also a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 101st and 82nd
Airborne Divisions.
