FS Debate Team Wins Honors

The Fairmont State Debate Team won honors at the Charity Invitational Debate tournament at Muskingham College in New Concord, Ohio, on March 4 and 5.

The team posted wins against debaters from Otterbein, Ohio State University and Grove City College. Chris Sharps posted a record of three wins and one loss and advanced to the semi-final round. Other team members competing in the tournament were Heather Musgrove, a Fairmont native who is planning to attend law school, and Jon Fox, a psychology and speech communication major from Fairmont. Other members of the team are FS students Nathan Bryant of Summersville, W.Va., and Aaron Kropog of Cleveland, Ohio.

The team debated the National Forensic Association resolution: "Resolved that the United States federal government should significantly reform the criminal justice system." The team is coached by Kim Korcsmaros.
