Reception to Honor Cheerleaders

Fans of the Fighting Falcons will have an opportunity to cheer on the basketball teams and then meet Fairmont State's national championship cheerleaders on Saturday, Feb. 26.

The Fairmont State Alumni Association is sponsoring a reception at the Erickson Alumni Center following the Feb. 26 game when the Falcons are scheduled to take on Salem International University. The reception is intended to honor the award-winning cheerleaders.

The Fairmont State cheerleaders recently won their fifth national championship. They participated in the UCA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship held in Disney World, Orlando, Fla. They won the national title in the All Girl II Division in 1995, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005. They were also runner up in the national championships in 1998, 1999 and 2004.

"The Fairmont State Alumni Association is very proud of the efforts of our FS cheerleaders," said Aaron Ryan, Director of Development and Alumni Relations. "We encourage everyone to come out and congratulate the squad firsthand on their latest achievement."
