QuickBooks Workshop Set for Feb. 16-17

Although most small business owners are worried about revenue, running a business involves a lot of other tasks. Depending on the type of business, you may need to invoice customers, record payments from customers, pay your own bills to outside vendors, manage inventory, and 'in your 'spare time'" analyze your financial data to see where you need to focus your next efforts. QuickBooks is a tool you can use to automate the tasks you're already performing as a business owner.

A two-day, hands-on QuickBooks workshop series is scheduled for 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 16 and 17, at the Fairmont State Community & Technical College Center for Workforce Education, 320 Adams St., Suite G01, Fairmont.

The total cost for the workshop is $350 per person for both days. Lunch will be provided and is included in the registration cost. The registration fee may be eligible for reimbursement through the Small Business Workforce grant program. The training session is open to the public and is being conducted by the Fairmont State Community & Technical College Regional Small Business Development Center.

The seminar will cover the basics of Quickbooks 2005. Topics will be appropriate for those who currently are running Quickbooks, who plan to run Quickbooks 2005 or those who are considering using Quickbooks 2005.

"This software is a tool you can use to streamline the various accounting and financial management functions that every business owner should perform," said James Martin, the SBDC Business Analyst and Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor who will be presenting the training program.

Basic computer skills are a requirement for attendees. As seating is limited, persons interested in attending the seminar should pre-register by calling (304) 367-4920 or sending an e-mail to ashields1@fairmontstate.edu.

All SBDC workshops are co-sponsored by the West Virginia Development Office.
