FSC&TC Offers Fast Track Jobs Orientation

Feb 23, 2005

Fairmont State Community & Technical College will hold a free orientation and information session about "Fast Track Jobs" training programs at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 3, as part of a statewide initiative to provide individuals access to quick, convenient job training for positions with companies that are currently hiring.

The Community and Technical College System of West Virginia initiated this program for West Virginians "Fast Track Jobs" based on models from other states. Fast Track Jobs are training programs that can be completed in 90 days or less. Orientation and information sessions will be held at 1 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at community and technical colleges across the state, including FSC&TC. These free information sessions will provide general information on Fast Track Jobs as well as other community and technical college programs.

Currently FSC&TC offers the following Fast Track Jobs training programs: Certified Procedural (Professional) Coder and the National Hardwood Lumber Association Lumber Grader Training Program.

This information session will be at FSC&TC's Center for Workforce Education, 320 Adams St., Suite GO1, Fairmont. Representatives from Fairmont State will be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance to attendees.

"We are pleased to be a part of this state wide initiative," said Dale Bradley, FSC&TC Assistant Provost for Workforce Development and Off-Campus Programs.

"Our CPC Program is for individuals wanting to work in medical billing and coding primarily in physicians' offices. The NHLA Lumber Grader Program is offered in partnership with the West Virginia Wood Technology Center in Elkins and provides a national certification for inspection positions in the wood industry. We are working on developing additional programs that will be available in the coming months."
