Student Activity Center Now Open

Effective today, Jan. 24, students, faculty and staff can begin using the fitness and recreation facilities at the brand new Student Activity Center.

Students have already paid to use the facility as part of their student fees. Faculty and staff can sign up for yearly packages for themselves and their immediate families (spouses and dependents).

Starting in February, the building will be open for weekends.

Spring Semester Hours:
Mondays through Fridays: 6 a.m. - 10:30 p.m
Saturdays: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sundays: noon - 10:30 p.m.
The aquatics area will close one hour prior to facility closing for maintenance.

Closed Days for Jan. 2005-June 2005
March 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 -- Spring Break
March 25, 26, 27 -- Easter
May 30 -- Memorial Day
July 4 -- July 4
Nov. 25-26 -- Thanksgiving
Dec. 23-Jan. 3 -- Holiday Break
Total closed days: 21

When completely finished later this year, the Student Activity Center will feature the following:

7,000 square feet of fitness equipment including treadmills, bikes, stair-steppers, elliptical trainers, selectorized/plate-loaded weight equipment, free weights and cardio-theater.

Five versatile courts marked for basketball, volleyball, badminton and indoor soccer.

Two multi-purpose rooms providing a variety of classes (aerobic, yoga, dance, spinning, etc.).

Intramural sports, fitness/wellness programs and entertainment events for students.

Aquatics include a four-lane, 25-yard lap/fitness pool, whirlpool, sauna and outdoor sunning deck.

Four-lane cushioned jogging/walking track with stretch areas available. Five laps around make a mile.

Game room with pool tables, games and big screen TV.

Large dining hall seats 500 with a spacious outdoor terrace.

Food court deli-style for late night snacking, convenience store, post office and study lounge area.

For overall convenience, the FS Bookstore will be located in the student center.

Outdoor recreation equipment will be available for rental and scheduled adventure trips will be offered.
