Students Participate in Inside Washington

Two Fairmont State students have been selected to attend Inside Washington 05 in January, according to Dr. J. Robert Baker, Director of the FS Honors Program.

Sponsored by The Washington Center, Inside Washington is a special academic seminar focusing on the presidential inauguration and the next presidential administration.

Shane E. Livingston, a junior from Fairmont, and Kristin E. House, a senior from Mount Clare, are both majoring in political science. Both have been members of the Honors Program since they arrived at Fairmont State. Livingston has served as vice president of the Honors students and now serves as vice president of the student body. House is the president of the students' Political Science Association and has been president of College Republicans and secretary-treasurer of the Honors students.

The Washington Center's seminar on the presidential inauguration provides students with an extraordinary behind-the-scenes look at Washington in the days leading up to the second inauguration of President Bush. They will attend lectures on the politics of the day, visit important sites in the capital and meet with national and international leaders who will share their insights into the Bush administration.

"We are excited that our students will be attending this exceptional seminar," Baker said. "It is an opportunity for them to learn about the presidential administration and the inaugural activities."

Founded in 1975, The Washington Center is a non-profit organization that provides students from around the country with internship opportunities and academic seminars in Washington, D.C.

The Fairmont State Foundation Inc. and the FSU Provost's Office have provided support to help Livingston and House attend the seminar.
