FS Speech Team Wins at Marietta College
The Fairmont State Speech Team brought home honors from the Wilcox Forensics Tournament
at Marietta College on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6 and 7.
* Sara Baxa of Charleston competed in Prose and Impromptu Speaking. Baxa is a psychology
major with a speech communication minor.
* Brad Fox of Davenport, Fla., competed in persuasive speaking. He is a speech communication
major with a journalism minor.
* Steven McElroy of Fairmont, a theatre and speech communication major, won second
place in poetry and fifth place in prose.
* Kyle Stewart of Shinnston, also a theatre major, won fifth place in dramatic interpretation
and competed in prose.
Dr. Robert Mild, Professor of Speech Communication, and Dr. Francene Kirk, Assistant
Professor of Oral Communication, coach the team, which competes several times during
the academic year.
