Fairmont State to Host Campus Visitation Day
A Campus Visitation Day is planned for Saturday, Nov. 13, for high school students,
their families and adults who are deciding where to continue their education.
"We strongly encourage those of all ages who are considering Fairmont State to attend
our program. Campus Visitation Day is a good opportunity to get to know us," said
Steve Leadman, Director of Recruiting Operations and coordinator of the day's activities.
"Fairmont State is actually two colleges in one environment" Fairmont State University
and Fairmont State Community & Technical College "which provide more than 90 four-year
majors and 50 two-year majors and certificate programs to meet students' individual
interests and needs. We want to help you find your future."
The event on Fairmont State's main campus will begin at 9 a.m. with registration
and refreshments in the Colebank Hall gymnasium. FSU President Daniel J. Bradley and
FSC&TC President Blair Montgomery will give a welcome, followed by an academic fair
and other informative sessions until 11:20 a.m. Those attending will have the opportunity
to visit with faculty members and receive information on housing and financial aid.
Tours of campus and of various academic schools will be offered throughout the morning
and afternoon. Current students and their parents will host discussion panels to answer
the questions of prospective students and their families.
Students will be able to visit the Advising and Testing Center, located in Room 218
of Hardway Hall, for early awareness placement testing in math and English. Students
will learn if they will be required to take developmental skills courses during their
first semester. Testing will be administered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
After lunch, all participants may tour the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education
Center in Bridgeport and/or the Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg.
