Dec. 1 to be 'A Day Without Art'
The Brooks Memorial Gallery in Wallman Hall will be completely dark on Wednesday,
Dec. 1, in commemoration of "A Day Without Art."
No art will hang on the walls or be featured inside the gallery. The day will be
a memorial to those visual artists who have died of AIDS. Students from the Department
of Art's gallery class will shroud the gallery windows and doors and list, on the
outside walls of the gallery, names of the deceased artists.
In this way, Fairmont State's community of artists will make their own contribution
to what has become a national day of mourning in the visual arts.
