Fairmont State Community Symphonic Band

The Fairmont State Community Symphonic Band is an audition-based wind and percussion ensemble aimed at providing a fun and challenging musical experience for advanced high school upperclassmen and collegiate musicians, and experienced community musicians.

The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Alyssa Schwartz, Director of Bands at Fairmont State University, and Chris Moran, local community musician.

Spring 2025 Concert

The Fairmont State Community Symphonic Band is excited to welcome new members for the Spring 2025 season! The ensemble is designed to be a challenging wind and percussion ensemble, intended for advanced high school upperclassmen, collegiate musicians, and experienced community musicians. Admittance to the ensemble is by self-submitted video auditions of excerpts of pieces from the seasons’ repertoire, which will be provided. 

For more information on joining the band, please submit our Request for Information Form, and someone will be in contact shortly with instructions on the audition process, and a password to the resources page containing music for this term.

Tuition & Payment

  • Cost is $65.00 per season
  • Fairmont State University students receive a $15 discount
  • Program registration and payment is handled by Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts and will only be required after auditions, and musicians are selected for the upcoming term
  • Limited needs-based scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis
