Welcome to Honors!

Make the most of your experience at Fairmont State University by taking part in our Honors Program. This unique and exclusive program allows you to take your education a step further and go even deeper into the subjects and areas of study you're passionate about.  We serve high-achieving and ambitious students at Fairmont State University who benefit from participating in a deeply enriching intellectual environment, have the opportunity to form strong community bonds with their classmates and professors and are able to tailor their educational experience to best fit their academic and career goals.

Regardless of your anticipated career path, you’ll find that participating in the Honors Program provides you with a strong foundation upon which you can build towards your goals – whether that involves pursuing advanced studies at the graduate level, stepping straight into your dream job when you’ve completed your degree, and/or becoming an engaged citizen of the global community.

The Honors Program has rigorous eligibility requirements; however, any student who feels they could benefit from participating in our program is welcome to apply.

There are multiple benefits from participating in the Honors Program, including priority registration, intellectual stimulation, a community ethos, opportunities to travel, and prestige.

Once you've joined the Honors Program, you'll need to complete the Honors Program requirements, including taking a certain number of Honors courses and completing an Honors senior thesis project.

Honors students are eligible to receive the J. Robert Baker Scholarship for Excellence in Honors.
Honors Association

The Honors Association is our student-led group that organizes social, academic, and community-service oriented activities for Honors students. Leadership opportunities abound!

Mission Statement

The Honors Program seeks to enhance and deepen the education of bright students by increasing their analytic skills, providing them with classroom experiences that encourage them to take charge of their education, helping them to undertake international travel, and supporting them on the path to wisdom. The Program encourages higher rates of retention and graduation as well as acceptance into graduate and professional schools. 

Apply to the Honors Program

Applicants to the Honors Program will need to have previously submitted their application to Fairmont State University, or already be a current student, to be able to submit the Honors Application.
