February 2025 Video Message
Happy February, Falcons. This month, Dr. Davis gives additional updates on Fairmont State Day at the Capitol, Presidential Speaker Series and Fairmont State’s Day of Giving.
Day at the Capitol—Feb. 13, Charleston
This event showcases Fairmont State and our transformational impact on West Virginia. Students – supported by faculty, staff, and coaches – will engage our state’s elected officials. We work that day to share this message: Fairmont State University is vital to the growth and strength of West Virginia. In 2024 alone, we generated $86 Million in direct economic impact for West Virginia, as well as creating approximately 800 well paid jobs.
Presidential Speaker Series—Spring Semester
This series brings public figures, scholars, leaders, and experts from all disciplines to Fairmont State’s campus to explore and discuss the issues facing our communities. These are free and open to the public. This spring we will host three events. The first will be February 18th in the Falcon Center Conference Rooms. We will have two distinguished scholars on campus to explore how food communicates resilience in Appalachia.
Day of Giving—Feb. 27, Campus and Beyond
This event is our biggest fundraising day of the year with a goal of raising $700,000. This year will be a 24-hour livestreamed event to raise awareness, spirits, and funds that support the university. This means we’ll kickoff at midnight on February 27. The funds raised will benefit academic programs, athletic teams, student organizations, and student support initiatives. Our goal is to inspire alumni, students, staff, faculty, donors, parents, and friends to support the areas of Fairmont State that matter most to them.
