January 3.
Extracurricular activities are not only fun, but they are also a great way to unwind
and destress.
College life is about more than simply taking classes: what you do outside the classroom
can lead to bonds and friendships that last a lifetime. In many cases, extracurricular
activities can also benefit you in your major, and provide skills that will prove
useful after you leave Fairmont State and begin a career.
We want to create a rich and vibrant community on the Fairmont State University campus
where everyone can not only pursue their passions but also find other like-minded
people as well. Our student-led organizations provide ways for you to get involved,
take charge, and focus on the hobbies or causes that are most inspiring to you.
All of our registered student organizations should read and review the RSO Handbook
each academic year for all of the updated policies and procedures.

The Black Student Union aims to offer the community opportunities for both cultural
enrichment and intellectual growth through educational, social, and political programming.
To regulate matters pertaining to student life and be the voice of students. Members
have the ability, to help shape Fairmont State policies and provide services to both
the school and the community.
Alpha Eta Rho is an intercollegiate non-profit organization that serves as a contact
between the aviation industry and educational institutions to foster, promote, and
mentor student leaders through education, charity, scholarship and service, towards
successful professional careers in the aviation field and all of its branches.
To promote analytical thinking, rigorous scholarship, and lifelong learning; to keep
abreast of the advances in scientific research; to elevate the ethical standards of
the criminal justice professions and to sustain in the public mind the benefit and
necessity of education and professional training.
To encourage scholarly attainment in this field of learning by reserving its regular
membership for those who achieve superior academic records and who indicate special
aptitude for and major interest in the life sciences.
To assist in the governing of the Honors program. Student-led branch of the Honors
Program, designed to give Honors students a real community here on campus.
Kappa Kappa Psi (National Band Honorary Co-ed Fraternity)
The purpose of Kappa Kappa Psi is to promote the existence and welfare of the college
and university bands, to honor outstanding band members, to stimulate campus leadership,
to foster a close relationship between college bands, and to provide a pleasant and
helpful social experience for all engaged in college band work.
American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) members promote a community in
architecture beyond the classroom. Membership in the student organization allows for
natural mentorship between grade levels and establishes an association that serves
the university and the city of Fairmont. As an AIAS member, you have access to networking
with architects of the West Virginia Region and are recognized as leaders. The AIAS
has been active in the blessing box effort and hammock hangout stations along the
Falcon trail in design and construction roles. The student organization provides ample
opportunities to visit architectural firms, and fabrication sites, and interact with
other schools of architecture through Crit Live, Grassroots, and by attending lectures
at nearby architectural schools. Joining the AIAS provides the opportunity for a student
to take their degree one step further by engaging with the design world on a university
and regional scale.
Students, alumni, and faculty come together and learn more about the fields of psychology, sociology, community health promotion, and geography. Throughout the year, we have various speakers and learn about a variety of topics.
The objectives of the organization shall be: Promote awareness of opportunities as
a Professional Surveyor, Advocate the importance of being a contributing member of
society, Provide a positive environment for learning, Give each member a chance to
excel, Enhance the quality and reliability of our students entering the work force,
Provide activities to facilitate social interactions between members, Grant members
the opportunity to advance in professional development.
National Security and Intelligence Student Association (NSISA)
The National Security & Intelligence Student Association’s purpose is to foster a
community among all Fairmont State Students majoring or minoring in National Security
& Intelligence by providing mentorship and networking opportunities within the organization.
The Alpha Chapter of Alpha Psi Omega is to stimulate interest in theatre activities
at Fairmont State University and to secure for the university all the advantages and
mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honor society. By electing students
to membership, the society provides a reward for their participation in theatre activities
of the university.
The American Society of Civil Engineers is a national organization that values sustainability,
community service, and develops leadership skills for future engineers.
ASME provides prospective mechanical engineers with skills, an opportunity to attend
special events to network with professional engineers, and access hundreds of valuable
resources to jumpstart your career.
The purpose of this organization is to offer an all-inclusive environment for people
to come together and share an affinity for all things forensic science.
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Falcon Racing
SAE Falcon Racing is committed to expanding the knowledge and skills of the Fairmont
State students through collaborative, hands-on experience and learning in order to
help them excel in the field of Engineering.
The Student Accounting Society (SAS) is a society at Fairmont State and other Colleges
that wish to foster better campus relationships among accounting students.
Active Minds is the nation's premier nonprofit organization supporting mental health
awareness and education for young adults. This is the Fairmont State University chapter.
The Explorers’ Club is about fun and adventure outdoors. The club will create and
offer organized, well managed events. Our emphasis is on diversity in all its forms
- events, experience levels, and backgrounds. Our members bring positive attitudes,
responsibility, friendship, and a commitment to share their love of the outdoors.
Falcons for Disability Advocacy aims to increase awareness of all types of disabilities
including neurodivergence while building self-advocacy skills, advocating with others,
and providing social support to one another.
The goal of this organization is to 1. Provide opportunities for people to game with
others and broaden their horizons for gaming and appreciation for games 2. Provide
opportunities to meet and game with others, along with providing the resources necessary
for esports.
This student-led organization's purpose is to broaden outreach for students and community
members to the study of history, to provide a forum for greater exploration of the
discipline, to host events that celebrates history and our relationship to it, and
enriches both campus and the larger community through engagement and awareness.
The Helping Hands Society seeks to build a stronger sense of community by bringing
people together and fostering connections among students. Through community events,
volunteer opportunities, and collaborative projects, the organization encourages health
and wellness, and support within the university community.
The goal of this organzation is to allow for students to experience and address global
issues in a real-world context as well as to interact and cooperate with diverse universities
from the national to international levels.
The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)
The National Society of Leadership and Success is the nation's largest leadership
honor society. Fairmont State University's chapter was founded in December 2021 and
has 230+ members as of August 2022. The NSLS is founded upon the core beliefs that
one can achieve one's dreams with the proper support and dedicated action. The NSLS
provides a step-by-step accredited program for members to build their leadership skills.
Members recieve their leadership certificate upon completion of the program during
their induction ceremony. Once a member of the NSLS, you will join top student leaders
across campus and are a member for life!
The Spanish Club is destined for students to get involved in Spanish language acquisition
activities. It will help increase their understanding of the everyday application
of the Spanish language. The organization will provide exposure to Hispanic culture
through a wide variety of activities that allow them to have a closer encounter with
different realities and experiences from the Hispanic world.
The Fairmont State Student Veterans Organization serves Fairmont State University
student veterans with the intent to help veterans transition to the higher education
lifestyle. The organization also serves as a support group to bring about community,
and to change the public's view of veterans by holding themselves to a higher standard
and helping in the local community.
To provide students with a working theatre organization and to be the liason between
the Humanities department, Community Arts Program, and campus and off-campus communities.
The purpose of the Catholic Student Union is to act as a student ministry of the Catholic
faith, serving the students of Fairmont State University by providing them with a
welcoming social space, fun activities, opportunities for community service, occasions
for learning about the Catholic faith and exploring the spiritual life and sacraments
of the Catholic Church.
The mission of Chi Alpha is to reconcile students to Jesus Christ, thereby transforming
the university, the marketplace, and the world. The core values are Community, Creativity,
Diversity, Excellence, Integrity, and Servant-Leadership.
Fairmont State University Baptist Campus Ministries (BCM)
BCM's goal is to meet students where they are, disciple them, and equip them to share
the gospel of Jesus Christ with their peers and their community. They accomplish this
goal each week on Fairmont State's campus through outreach, worship, Bible study,
small groups, and community building.
To create a Young Life College Community that offers students an opportunity to REACH
fellow students with the good news of God’s love for them, BUILD them up in their
faith, and LAUNCH them out as Kingdom-minded leaders.
The purpose of this organization is to raise awareness for student-athlete mental
health and address the stigma within sports culture. We empower athletes around the
world to face the hidden opponent together by providing seminars and activities to
extend the message.
The Pi Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. The first African-American National
Pan-Hellenic fraternity with a service organization mission towards leadership and
service.
National sorority founded in 1902 belonging to the Fairmont State Greek Life Community
which provides service, leadership, and social opportunities. Delta Zeta does lots
of charity work in the community as well as with our national partners.
Zeta Phi Beta founded in 1920 is a historically black sorority. Zeta Phi Beta aims
to raise the consciousness of their people, encourage the highest standards of scholastic
achievement, and foster a greater sense of unity among its members.
Delta Xi Omicron Professional Sorority is an organization that provides the opportunity
for leadership and service. We serve on campus and in the community as well as encourage
participation in group activities. We strive to promote good fellowship and high scholarship,
as well as improve social and personal standards. Delta Xi Omicron Professional Sorority
is a place to gain a unique spirit of friendship.
