Fairmont State’s General Scholarship application open for 2023-2024 academic year
Fairmont State University is now accepting General Scholarship applications for the 2023 – 2024 academic year. Both incoming and current Fairmont State students are encouraged to complete the General Scholarship application by March 1, 2023.
“The generosity of our donors has made it possible for students attending Fairmont State University to receive scholarship assistance to help them with their educational costs,” said Fairmont State University Assistant Vice President for Student Success, Tresa Weimer. “We take great pride in providing students with access to a quality, affordable education at Fairmont State.”
A complete list of scholarships available at the University can be accessed at www.fairmontstate.edu/scholarshiplist. The General Scholarship application is available at www.fairmontstate.edu/scholarshipapp2324. All scholarship awarding will begin after the March 1, 2023 deadline.
All students completing the General Scholarship application should have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with Fairmont State to maximize all types of federal, state and institutional aid. Completing the FAFSA will provide a student with a total award package that includes grants, loans, work opportunities and scholarships. The FAFSA can be completed at studentaid.gov.
“The FAFSA is a critical starting point for students when applying for financial aid assistance,” Weimer continued. “The earlier students complete the FAFSA, the earlier they will receive their award notification. Our goal is to assist and support our students with determining their true costs, understanding the many different types of financial aid sources and how to maximize ‘gift aid’ opportunities.”
In addition to the University’s General Scholarship, Fairmont State’s premiere academic Presidential Scholarship application will be available to incoming students on November 1. Presidential Scholarship applicants must be high school seniors residing in West Virginia who are Promise Scholarship recipients. Eligible applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 in addition to a composite ACT score of 26 or higher or an SAT total score of 1260 or higher.
