Fairmont State University to welcome prospective students at Night at Power Park

Aug 30, 2022

On Saturday, September 17, Fairmont State University will host prospective students at the Fairmont State Night at Power Park in Charleston.

The Appalachian Power Park is home to the Charleston Dirty Birds baseball team, who will take on the Gastonia Honey Hunters from Gastonia, S.C. during the event. The game will start at approximately 6:35 p.m., with Fairmont State University Interim President, Dianna Phillips, slated to throw the first pitch.

“We are thrilled to be able to have a large community event like this for high school students in the Charleston area and beyond,” said Fairmont State University Assistant Vice President of Enrollment and Student Life, Alicia Kalka. “Being able to meet face-to-face, make meaningful connections and enjoy an evening watching baseball is what this event is all about.”

Students and their guests will have the opportunity to learn more about Fairmont State, be admitted to the University on-the-spot and discuss financial aid eligibility with Admissions representatives.

Director of Admissions, Summer Boggess, explained the importance of expanding the University's outreach to connect with students residing in communities throughout the state.

“We want students across the state and beyond to know that even though they aren’t local to Fairmont or the surrounding region, they certainly aren’t forgotten,” Boggess said. “It’s important to us to spread the message about higher education across all communities, while connecting with students and providing access to events such as this.”

Fairmont State Night at Power Park is free to all high school juniors and seniors and one guest. Food and refreshments will be provided to those preregistered for the event.
