Fairmont State University to Host Fall Maroon & White Visitation Day

Sep 21, 2021

Fairmont State University will host future Falcons during the on-campus Maroon & White Day on Saturday, October 16. Maroon & White Day provides the opportunity for both traditional and non-traditional prospective students and their families to explore Fairmont State’s offerings, including more than 80 programs of study.

“The goal of Maroon & White Day is to provide a springboard for students, parents and others to learn more about their future here at Fairmont State,” said Fairmont State University Senior Director of Recruitment, Chris Sharps. “One of the biggest reasons we hear from students and parents alike as to why they chose Fairmont State is small class sizes and direct contact with their teacher-mentors. Our classes aren’t filled with hundreds of students – the professors know their students by name.”

The University’s fall visitation day will begin with an opening session at 10 a.m. in the Feaster Center. Prospective students will then be divided into six groups, according to their areas of interest or choice of major. Faculty from the University’s five colleges will host academic showcases throughout the day, while staff and current students will also provide informational sessions on topics including financial aid, housing, student organizations, among others. In addition, prospective students will have opportunities to tour and enjoy lunch on campus.

“We encourage all students interested in attending Fairmont State to join us for Maroon & White Day on October 16,” said Fairmont State University Vice President for Student Success, Ken Fettig. “This event affords prospective students and their families the opportunity to meet one-on-one with our caring teacher-mentors, knowledgeable staff and friendly students, allowing for them to start making connections from the moment they step foot on campus.”

“We are thrilled to host future Falcons and their families once again at our Maroon & White Day,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “Meeting face-to-face with students and their loved ones allows us to do what we do best, help them take the first, important steps toward achieving their dreams. Our fall visitation day provides answers to questions they might have, like how to pay for school and what to major in. They’ll get the inside information firsthand from the people who know best – our faculty, staff and students.”

Fairmont State University’s cozy, tree-filled hilltop campus is located in Fairmont, along the state’s growing high technology corridor. Fairmont State is a comprehensive, student-centered, state-supported institution offering 41 degree programs and over 90 programs of study in the arts and sciences, engineering and technology, teacher education, nursing and business administration. The institution is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association.
