Fairmont State University Plans for Fall 2021 Homecoming Celebration

Jun 07, 2021

Fairmont State University is tentatively planning to host its 2021 Homecoming celebration on Friday, October 8 and Saturday, October 9. After canceling the event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the campus community is looking forward to welcoming its Falcon Family back for a weekend of festivities.

“I can’t wait to welcome home alumni, friends and family this fall,” Mirta M. Martin, president of Fairmont State University, said. “Especially after having to cancel last year’s celebration. For a community as close as the Falcon Family, Homecoming is a true celebration of the strong bonds forged between classmates, teachers, the school and the surrounding community. While we’ll certainly keep an eye on conditions as they relate to COVID, I’m hopeful this event will take place, and that we can once again welcome Falcons home.”

Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members will be invited to partake in the celebration’s programming; plans and protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of those in attendance. Conditionally, traditional events such as the Homecoming parade, tailgate and football game are intended to take place.

The parade is slated to get underway at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Fighting Falcons will take the field against the Alderson Broaddus Battlers later that afternoon, with kick-off scheduled for 2 p.m. In addition, various alumni award winners as well as the newest Hall of Fame inductees will be announced.

More details, including a schedule of events and registration information, are forthcoming.
