Studio Arts

Students in the Fairmont State University - Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art program will focus on creative and technical skill-building through exposure to and the practice of various visual arts media and the study of the History of Art.

Studio Art is right for you if you:

  • Want to work as an independent artist
  • Wish to work in fields where creativity is essential
  • Wish to continue your education in Visual Arts and teaching at the graduate level

The skills taught in the Studio Art Program will prepare students for

  • Work as professional independent artists. 
  • Advanced and graduate studies in studio art and related design programs. 
  • Corporations that rely on employees who possess creative problem-solving skills and artistic talent. 
  • Employment in local and regional creative arts centers. Work in Galleries and Museums.

Award-winning group of artists, faculty, and scholars

Students in the Fairmont State University - Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art program will focus on creative and technical skill-building through exposure to and the practice of various visual arts media and the study of the History of Art. 

They help students to improve their skills in all aspects of art making as they work towards careers in the Visual Arts.

Mission

The Studio Art Degree of the Art Department at Fairmont State University, as its mission, provides the understanding and application of skills, imagery, processes, techniques, and contextual information for the development and discussion of visual forms and concepts as they apply to working in the field of Studio Art and/or Art Education. Additionally, the Art Department aims to contribute to the cultural life of the community.
