Taskstream Directions

See if “Check Out” is displayed near the top of your workspace screen. If it is, click the “Check Out” button. This will cause the “Check In” button to display (usually within a light green highlighted bar), and you will be allowed to enter information into the text boxes and upload material. Be sure to click the “Check In” button once you are done.

If you are still unable to enter information, you likely only have view-only access to the area. Please contact your department chair or dean, and they can request to have your access levels changed.

Yes and no. If you are using the same measure in both a degree program and course level space, the information you input into those spaces is unique to that space. Any attachments or content in those spaces are not able to be automatically transferred to the degree program level space. Degree program and course level assessment often require examining assessment from different lenses. For example, assessment findings or action plans in the course level space may relate specifically to future iterations of that course while similar sections of the degree program level assessment may relate to broader improvements across the degree program—such as changing assessments or content across multiple courses—even if they utilize one or more of the same measures.

IESO is collaborating with Watermark on an interface that will allow you to transfer student learning data from Blackboard automatically into Taskstream, where analytic reports can be generated and attached to both degree and course-level assessment spaces in Taskstream with ease. In addition, you can utilize the same outcomes and metrics at the degree program and course level spaces by selecting the outcomes you would like to measure in the relevant tab in Taskstream.

Unless you have changed your learning outcomes or measures from a previous year, you do not have to re-enter or create a new set of outcomes/measures each year. In fact, most information in the Planning Section of degree-level assessment and in the Standing Requirements section of course-level assessment does not need to be updated or changed from year to year.

You do not have to utilize the Submit & Read Reviews tab at this time. Just let your department chair or dean know when you have completed your designated areas in Taskstream. At that point, your department chair or dean will commence with the next level of review relative to your individual college and department assessment procedures. IESO will review degree program assessment components after the institutional deadlines and provide feedback to your dean on if any further action(s) are necessary and/or should considered.

Because assessment is a faculty-driven process of continuous improvement, IESO encourages you to collaborate and discuss with your faculty, department chair, and dean the types of measures and metrics which will best capture your student learning outcomes. Given the discipline-specific nature of many outcomes, measures of assessment often varied by discipline and profession. This isn’t a bad thing! Rather, it shows the diversity and strength of student learning across the University.
