Submit a Story


All news stories and images submitted to FSUNow will be reviewed and edited by the Office of Institutional Advancement for content, grammar, style and relevance to Fairmont State University. Some news stories may not be used. The intent of the FSUNow news site is to increase awareness of events, programs and accomplishments of the campus community and FSU alumni.

Tips for Writing a Story to Submit to FSUNow

  • Include the answers to the following questions in your story content: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
  • Submit stories at least two weeks in advance of the date of an event or other time sensitive story element.
  • Provide a contact phone number or e-mail address in the body of your story so that readers have a contact for more information.
  • Make sure your information is accurate. Double check spelling, times and dates.
  • Avoid wordiness or jargon.
  • Keep stories to about 300-1,500 words in length.
  • Visit the News Archives to view examples of news stories.
Here are a few points to consider before submitting an image: It is your responsibility to make sure you have the right to use the image you submit. If you are posting a photo of a person, it would be a good idea to have their permission first. After you submit a photo, our web team will screen your photos for content.
Files must be less than 8 MB.
Allowed file types: gif jpg jpeg png.
Enter a list of keywords for the story, separated by commas.  Example keywords would be the college/school, department, names, etc.
