Information Systems Students Host Dinner

Dec 06, 2005

The Information Systems Student Organization, a local chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, is hosting a dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, in the Turley Center Ballroom. The campus community is invited to attend.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Michael Yura, Senior Vice President for the National Biometrics Security Project, West Virginia Operations. Yura will discuss the use of biometrics today and how his organization helps government and private sector organizations deter terrorist attacks on the civil infrastructure by enhancing effective automated human identification through the application of proven biometric technologies.

A buffet dinner will be served. A donation of $5 per person is requested. Fairmont State students who wish to attend but feel they cannot afford the donation may see Tracie Dodson in Colebank Hall Room 132 for a hardship waiver.

Those who would like to attend should sign up in Colebank Hall Room 130 or call (304) 367-4221 before 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6. Guests are welcome.
