School of Education, Health & Human Performance students recognized with awards, scholarships

Fairmont State University honored School of Education, Health & Human Performance students for their academic achievement and named scholarship recipients at the Scholarship and Academic Awards banquet on May 1, 2019. 

Many of the awards and scholarships presented at the banquet were made possible through gifts to the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc.

Lillian Busdecker, a graduate of Philip Barbour High School and Illinois Online High School, was the recipient of an Anna Louise DeVaul Endowed Scholarship. She is a sophomore elementary education major, the daughter of Kathy Minnich of Bridgeport, W.Va. 

Isabella Diserio, a graduate of East Fairmont High School, was awarded an Anna Lousie DeVaul Endowed Scholarship. She is a junior elementary education major and the daughter of Chris and Susan Diserio of Fairmont, W.Va. 

Alyiah Amick, a graduate of Richwood High School, was a recipient of a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. A junior secondary education major with a minor in social studies, she is the daughter of Raymond and Esta Amick of Leivasy, W.Va.

Chloe Barber, a graduate of North Marion High School, was awarded a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. An art education major for pre-school through adult, she is the daughter of Shannon and Jesse Barber of Farmington, W.Va. 

Sydney Brill, a graduate of Ritchie County High School, received a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. A sophomore social studies secondary education and history double major with a minor in French, she is the daughter of Donald and Twilla Brill of Harrisville, W.Va. 

Carly Clarke, a graduate of Reservoir High School, was a recipient of a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. She is a junior secondary education major with a minor in physical education, the daughter of Doug and Gina Clarke of Fulton, MD.

Abigail Harvath, a graduate of Sherman High School, received a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. She is a sophomore elementary education with a specialization in math for grades five through nine, the daughter of Steven and Jessi Harvath of Comfort, W.Va. 

Malinda Hodge, a graduate of Bridgeport High School, was awarded a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. She is a senior elementary education major and the daughter of Marta and Mike Hodge of Bridgeport, W.Va. 

Megan McClung, a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School, was the recipient of a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. A freshman elementary education major, she is the daughter of Doug and Peggy McClung of Charleston, W.Va. 

Hunter Reed, a graduate of Musselman High School, was awarded a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. A sophomore education major with a concentration in social studies from grade 5-adult, he is the son of Brandy and Nathan Reed of Martinsburg, W.Va.

Shelby Swiger, a graduate of Lincoln High School, received a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. A sophomore elementary education major with a minor in special education, she is the daughter of Eric and Heather Swiger of Shinnston, W.Va. 

Meghan Watson, a graduate of Lincoln High School, was awarded a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. She is a senior elementary education major with a minor in multi-categorical special education, the daughter of Lisa Watson of Shinnston, W.Va. 

Courtney Worcester, a graduate of Lake Park High School, was the recipient of a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund. She is a sophomore physical education major and the daughter of Sherrill and Mark Worcester of Bloomingdale, IL. 

Abigail Boggs, a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School, was the recipient of a Dorothea Poling Brand Endowed Scholarship. She is a sophomore elementary education major and the daughter of Michael and Alicia Boggs of Elkins, W.Va. 

Karli Bowman, a graduate of Moorefield High School, was awarded a Dr. Bob and Susan Hawkins Endowed Scholarship. A sophomore elementary education major, she is the daughter of Tim and Stacey Bowman of Moorefield, W.Va. 

Megan Kite, a graduate of Petersburg High School, was awarded a Dr. Bob and Susan Hawkins Endowed Scholarship. A senior elementary education major with a math endorsement for grades five through nine, she is the daughter of Bobby and Sabrina Kite of Petersburg, W.Va. 

John Huffman, a graduate of Elkins High School, was a recipient of a Duke Pride Scholarship. A sophomore physical education major, he is the son of Dave and Angel Huffman of Elkins, W.Va.  

Holly Nester, a graduate of North Marion High School, was awarded a Duke Pride Scholarship. A secondary education school health major, she is the daughter of William and Lois Campbell of Farmington, W.Va. 

Catherine Reynolds, a graduate of James W. Robinson Secondary School, received a Duke Pride Scholarship. A freshman exercise science major, she is the daughter of Anne and Steve Reynolds of Fairfax, VA. 

Samantha Withrow, a graduate of Midland Trail High School, was awarded the Duling Memorial Teacher Education Endowed Scholarship. A senior elementary education major, she is the daughter of Rocky and Kristi Withrow of Ansted, W.Va. 

Hayley Crites, a graduate of Morgantown High School, was awarded a Haddon & Nettie Morgan Rhoades Scholarship. A senior elementary education major, she is the daughter of Sandra and Richard Crites of Morgantown, W.Va.

Hannah Cunningham, a graduate of Musselman High School, was a recipient of a Haddon & Nettie Morgan Rhoades Scholarship. A senior elementary education major, she is the daughter of Steve and Rebecca Cunningham of Martinsburg, W.Va. 

Benjamin Daft, a graduate of Elkins High School, was awarded a Haddon & Nettie Morgan Rhoades Scholarship. A junior secondary education major with a concentration in social studies, he is the son of Anthony and Julia Daft of Elkins, W.Va. 

Ashley Darr, a graduate of Tug Valley High School, was the recipient of a Haddon & Nettie Morgan Rhoades Scholarship. A sophomore elementary education major, she is the daughter of Robert Darr and Tara Baisden of Kermit, W.Va. 

Emily Snyder, a graduate of Preston County High School, was awarded a Haddon & Nettie Morgan Rhoades Scholarship. An elementary education major with a minor in special education, she is the daughter of Alan and Lesa Synder of Aurora, W.Va. 

Madison Green, a graduate of Grafton High School, received a Helen Romano Viggiano Elementary Education Endowed Scholarship. She is as junior elementary education major and the daughter of Jennifer and Jonathan Keller of Grafton, W.Va. 

Abigail Lemine, a graduate of University High School, was awarded a Helen Romano Viggiano Elementary Education Endowed Scholarship. A pre-elementary education major, she is the daughter of Dave Lemine of Morgantown, W.Va. 

Cecily Strawderman, a graduate of Tucker County High School, received a Helen Romano Viggiano Elementary Education Endowed Scholarship. A pre-elementary education major, she is the daughter of Randy and Julie Strawderman of Parsons, W.Va.

Rebecca Rose, a graduate of Valley High School, received the Joanna Nesselroad Scholarship. A senior elementary education major, she is the daughter of Kim Tennant and Jeff and Rachel Rose of Pine Grove, W.Va. 

Kellie Norris, a graduate of Avon Lake High School, was awarded one of the Margaret MacLuckie Scholarships. A junior math education major, she is the daughter of Nate and Julie Norris of Avon Lake, OH. 

Justin Welling, graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School, was awarded one of the Margaret MacLuckie Scholarships. A secondary education and mathematics senior, he is the son of Mark Welling and Marcie Ward of Clarksburg, W.Va. 

Allison Basye, a graduate of East Hardy High School, received a Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarship. She is a senior elementary education major and the daughter of John and Patty Basye of Baker, W.Va. 

Landon Dillard, a graduate of Tucker County High School, was the recipient of a Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarship. A junior physical education major, he is the son of Lisa and Scott Dixon of Aurora, W.Va. 

Alexis Greene, a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, was awarded a Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarship. A junior elementary education major, she is the daughter of Jamie and Misty Greene of Buckhannon, W.Va. 

Latasha Martin, a graduate of Pendelton County High School, was the recipient of a Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarship. A senior English education major, she is the daughter of James and Terri Martin of Sugar Grove, W.Va. 

Haley Shanholtz, a graduate of Liberty High School, was awarded a Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarship. She is a senior elementary education major, the daughter of Daniel and Diana Shanholtz of Salem, W.Va. 

Matthew Stanton, a graduate of Morgantown High School, received a Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarship. A Sophomore social studies education major, he is the son of Dave and Marcia Stanton of Morgantown, W.Va. 

Rachel Bugaj, a graduate of Wheeling Park High School, was awarded the T.J. & Madge Herndon Pearse Memorial Endowed Scholarship. She is a senior secondary education and Spanish major with minors in history and TESOL, the daughter of Stephanie and Walt Bugaj of Wheeling, W.Va. 

Angel Forren, a graduate of Greenbrier East High School, was the recipient of a Victor & Mary Carr Rancinger Scholarship. A senior elementary education major with a minor in special education, she is the daughter of Lisa and Jeffery Forren of Greenbrier County, W.Va. 

Hannah Roberts, a graduate of Tyler Consolidated High School, was awarded a Victor & Mary Carr Rancinger Scholarship. A junior elementary education major, she is the daughter of Mike and Stacey Roberts of Alma, W.Va. 

Andrew Raleigh, a graduate of Morgantown High School, was the recipient of the William Knox Endowed Scholarship. A junior exercise science major, he is the son of Joe and Robin Raleigh of Germantown, MD. 

Kendra Urtso, a graduate of Grafton High School, was a Hardway Award for Excellence in Teacher Education award recipient. A secondary science education major with a concentration in biology and general science, she is the daughter of Paul Urtso and Shannon Moore of Rosemont, W.Va. 

Stephanie Viekman, a graduate of Faith Christian Academy, was awarded the Health & Human Performance Promising Scholar. She is a freshman community health and psychology double major with a minor in Spanish, the daughter of Steven and Donna DeBerry of Martinsburg, W.Va. 

Jayce Riley, a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, was named one of the Outstanding Students in Health & Human Performance. A senior exercise science major, he is the son of Jason and Jamie Riley of Fairmont, W.Va. 

Molly Rinkevich, a graduate of McDowell High School, was named one of the Outstanding Students in Health & Human Performance. An exercise science major, she is the daughter of Michael and Kirsten Rinkevich of Erie, PA. 

Anna Coffin, a graduate of Guthrie High School, was awarded the Stark Wilmoth Outstanding Elementary Student Teacher Award. She is a senior elementary education major with a concentration in math for grades five to nine, the daughter of Ben and Barbara Carpenter of Guthrie, OK.a scholarship from the Crystal Miller Morris Endowment Fund.

Stephanie Gillespie was the recipient of a Dorothea Poling Brand Endowed Scholarship. 

Brandon George received the Dr. Ronald G. Helms NCSS Scholarship. 

Andrew Harker was awarded a Duke Pride Scholarship. 

Samantha Faber was awarded the Eddie & Betty Barrett Endowed Scholarship.

Genevieve Neff was the recipient of the Glenn & Elsie Toothman Endowed Scholarship and Victor & Mary Carr Rancinger Scholarship. 

Emily DeVall received a Haddon & Nettie Morgan Rhoades Scholarship. 

Sara Davis was awarded the Kenneth M. Hart Scholarship.

Brianna Oldaker received a Margaret MacLuckie Scholarship. 

Noca Cutlip was awarded the Marjorie R. Hoult Lough Endowed Scholarship. 

Brooke Ashcraft, Seth Marshall, and Jacob Rahming were all awarded Martha Flesher Endowed Scholarships. 

Ryan Satterfield received the Shirley A. Fleming Memorial Scholarship. 

Samantah Withrow and Ciera Workman were awarded Victor & Mary Carr Rancinger Scholarships.

Carlos Serrano was the recipient of the Will Bridges Memorial Endowed Scholarship. 

Jessica Knotts and Kelsie Stewart were awarded the Hardway Award for Excellence in Teacher Education. 

Sam Aloi was awarded an Outstanding Student in Health & Human Performance. 

Garrett Mock received the Stark Wilmoth Outstanding Secondary Student Teacher Award.
