FS to Host Quiz Bowl Tournament
Fairmont State will hold its annual Quiz Bowl Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The tournament this year consists of 10 teams of four students from local middle
schools. A welcoming ceremony begins at 9 a.m. in the Falcon Center Gym, and an awards
ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the gym. The actual competition will take place
in classrooms in Hardway Hall. The teams will be required to answer questions in math,
English, history, science and pop culture, as well as completing short worksheets.
Schools participating this year are Barrackville Middle, Clay-Battelle Middle, Gilmer
County Middle, Gore Middle, Lumberport Middle, Mannington Middle, Pickens School,
South Harrison Middle, South Preston Middle and Tygarts Valley Middle/High.
Everyone who participates in the Quiz Bowl will receive a certificate, a T-shirt
and a "Brain Quest" trivia game card set. Winners will also receive a personalized
plaque for their school. The Quiz Bowl Tournament is sponsored by the FS Honors Program,
Kappa Delta Pi and the FS GEAR-UP Partnership.
