FSU Students Participate in Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol

Fairmont State University students participated in the 14th annual Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol in Charleston on Feb. 24. The event’s purpose is to familiarize state legislators with research activities involving undergraduate students on campuses across the state and the educational impact of those activities.

FSU students invited to present were Benjamin Daily, James Jesmer, Brian Miller and Benjamin Wilfong.

The Fairmont State University College of Liberal Arts honored its high achieving students during the fourth annual Academic Awards Ceremony at the end of the spring 2014 semester.

Dr. Deanna Shields, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Christina Lavorata, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Mary Jo Thomas of the Fairmont State Foundation Inc. presented greetings and congratulations to the students for their academic achievements.

A gift from The Former Agents of the FBI Foundation will help fund scholarships for Fairmont State University students.

Former Special Agent Gary L. Stoops of Little Rock, Ark., worked for many years with the National White Collar Crime Center and was instrumental in the creation of the National Security and Intelligence Program at FSU and its Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX) laboratory at Fairmont State.

The Fairmont State Foundation has announced that a donation from the Sgt. Todd May Memorial Fund Committee has provided the final funds needed for Fairmont State University’s matching grant from the West Virginia Research Trust Fund as part of the “Bucks for Brains” program.

The OSIX Experience chronicles Fairmont State University's Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX) student-analysts as they provide real-time intelligence support during President Obama's 2010 visit to Beckley, West Virginia. OSIX is the laboratory and applied research component of Fairmont State University's National Security and Intelligence Program. The OSIX Experience was produced by Allegheny Image Factory.
