Basketball Tourney to Benefit United Way

The United Way of Marion County and Fairmont Falcons Classic Youth Basketball are teaming up to host the 2005 "Kids Helping Kids" Hardwood Challenge youth basketball tournament on July 8-10.

The tournament includes boys and girls ages 10-14. Games will be played at Fairmont State's Feaster Center and Student Activity Center and at North Marion High School. Times will be Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

Single day admission will be $8 per adult and $2 per child under 12. Two day passes will be available for $12 per adult and $3 per child under 12 years of age. Sunday admission will be $5 per adult and $1 per child.

In addition to the tournament, there will also be a lunch catered by Texas Roadhouse on Saturday, July 9, at Fairmont State from noon to 3 p.m. The menu will include chicken, barbequed ribs, coleslaw and baked beans. FS Head Basketball Coach Tim Murphy, FS Head Football Coach Rusty Elliott, WVU Basketball Coach John Beilein and WVU Football Coach Rich Rodriguez have been invited to attend. Cost for the lunch is $15 for adults and $12 for children.
