Halloween Festivities Planned on Campus for Oct. 31

Oct 21, 2013

Halloween events abound for Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College students and the community.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the Ruth Ann Musick Library is hosting Halloween at the Library. Creepy stories will be read aloud at 10 a.m. on the middle floor of the Library. FSU and Pierpont students will be able to participate in zombie makeovers and snap a group photo at the photo booth from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Decorated pumpkins will be on display, and student groups wishing to submit a pumpkin can get details and sign up at http://library.fairmontstate.edu

A variety of activities are planned for the Fighting Falcons football game, which has a 7 p.m. kickoff at Duvall-Rosier Field. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Kids and families are invited to participate in Trunk or Treat in the White Lot, which is located between Duvall-Rosier Field and the Feaster Center. There will be a costume contest for kids, and participants should register at a table in the parking lot.

FSU and Pierpont students will be able to participate in a raffle for a free iPad. Sponsored by the Office of Student Activities, campus student organizations are decorating scarecrows to represent their group. The scarecrows will be on display at the football game and will be sold in a Scarecrow Raffle during halftime. Raffle tickets will be $1 each or $5 for an arm’s length strip of tickets, and proceeds will benefit the United Way of Marion County.

Oct. 31 is also a Maroon-Out for Breast Cancer Awareness. Free maroon T-shirts with breast cancer awareness ribbons pinned to them will be given away to support that cause. Fireworks are planned for after the game.
