Greg Bamberger is the Director of Athletics, and oversees a 17-sport NCAA Division II athletic program that competes in the Mountain East Conference. Fairmont competes in 9 women’s sports and 8 men’s. The women compete in Acrobatics & Tumbling, Basketball, Cross Country, Golf. Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis and Volleyball. The men compete in the sports of Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Swimming, Tennis and Wrestling. The Director of Athletics is responsible for modeling, fostering and overseeing the integrity, cohesion and successful presence of athletics on campus, with consistent connections to the mission of the University. The Director develops policies to ensure effective and efficient department operations. The mission of Fairmont State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is to actively support the University’s mission of teaching, research, and service by providing an atmosphere in which student-athletes can succeed at championship levels within the spirit of fair play, sportsmanship, and integrity.
