Friday, June 8, on their shared main campus, Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College hosted the Marion County Relay for Life.
Relay for Life is the world’s largest movement to end cancer. Community-based Relay for Life events raise funds and awareness to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.
Patti Murray-Fidura has served as captain for the FSU Relay Team this year. “Superheroes of Cancer” was the theme for this year’s event. Murray-Fidura crafted a special Falcon-themed cape and spirit stick. She offered this update following the Relay for Life:
"I just wanted to tell everyone how well the team did at the Relay. We raised $510 at the event and the total to date (June 11, 2012) is $3,895! We have until August 31st to wrap things up."
